Frequently asked questions
When can I take the full G test?
12 months after your G2, plus real highway driving experience and a completed Declaration of Highway Driving Experience.
Is this the same as the G2 exit test?
Yes.
Do I need to parallel park?
It depends on the test location. Full-time DriveTest Centres currently use a modified test that excludes parallel parking, roadside stops, three-point turns, and residential driving (already covered at G2). Part-time Travel Point locations still include all of these. VERIFY-MTO
What's different from the G2 test?
The full G test focuses on highway/expressway driving, business-area driving, and driving without electronic aids.
Can I use parking sensors or a backup camera?
No, you need to demonstrate real shoulder checks and mirror use.
Can someone come with me?
No, only the examiner rides along.
What does it cost?
$91.25, prepaid. Unlike your first road test, it isn't covered by your original application fee. VERIFY-MTO
What if I cancel or don't show up?
Cancelling or no-showing with less than 48 hours' notice means your prepaid fee isn't refunded, except in extenuating circumstances.
How long do I wait if I fail?
At least 10 days between road test attempts.
What should I bring?
A roadworthy, insured, plated vehicle, and your glasses or contacts if needed.
Can I drink and drive once I have a full G?
If you're 21 or under, zero blood alcohol still applies regardless of licence class. Impaired driving is illegal at any age. VERIFY-MTO
Is Module 1 free?
Yes.
